October Fall Colors Art Hike Recap - Bear Wallow, Mt Lemmon, AZ

October's Art Hike was full of beautiful fall colors! Bear Wallow on Mt Lemmon is my favorite place for fall colors when the autumn season comes to Arizona. This unofficial trail is one of the top 5 places to find fall colors in Arizona according to Arizona Highways Magazine.

.

We met at the Sunset Trail parking lot just off of General Hitchcock Highway. Our original Art Hike date had to be postponed due to inclemate weather on Mt Lemmon. I'm glad we pushed the date back because we had a perfect fall day on the mountain with our smaller group! The bluebird sky was stunning against the bright yellows and reds on the trees.

Many other people were out enjoying the nice weather and fall colors. This spot can get pretty crowded so keep that in mind if you decide to leaf peep in this area. Dogs are allowed but please keep them leashed.

While meandering the trail we saw several fairy houses made by other visitors. I've seen these little houses made from found objects in nature during other hikes in Bear Wallow. They were fun to look for and inspired us later on when we stopped for an hour of creativity.

.

When we stop in the middle of our Art Hikes for creative time I love seeing what people come up with. In the past we've had mostly drawing and painting, some journaling or photography, but this time we also had birding and fairy house building! It was so fun to see the variety of inspiration that hits each individual, I love the final photos of everyone's creations!

.

I hope you can join us for a future Art Hike! Make sure to check out my website under Art Hikes & Workshops to see where we're hiking next month!
