May Art Hike on Mt Lemmon, AZ

Saturday, May 18 at 8:45 a.m. / Mount Lemmon Trailhead

Experience the beauty of the Arizona Sky Islands by meeting us for an art hike on Mount Lemmon! We'll meet at 8:45am at the Mount Lemmon Trailhead parking lot at the very top of the mountain. Together we'll hike the Lemmon Meadow Trail, take a detour to Lemmon Rock Lookout and take in the views over the Wilderness of Rocks as we pause to draw and paint the vista in front of us.

Stephanie Daniels of Brushes and Boots will provide some instruction on how to capture the scenery with your medium of choice and then let you explore your creativity on your own. We'll finish our loop by hiking the Mount Lemmon #5 trail back to the trailhead.

The well marked trail takes you under ponderosa pines and quaking aspens, through a meadow of ferns and wildflowers, and offers gorgeous views of the Santa Catalina Mountains to Tucson below. The trail has some loose rocks in places and weaves through old burn area from the 2020 Bighorn Fire. You will see some fire damage but you will also see how resilient the mountain is after a wildfire. If you've never visited Mount Lemmon before, this is a great intro hike to see what the Arizona Sky Islands have to offer.

Dogs are allowed on this trail if on a leash.
